God Says Diversify

God Says Diversify

Last week we discussed the Golden Handcuffs.

One highlighted point was the need for the first generation of the Exodus to have their sense of “my employer is my provider” killed off before they could enter into the land flowing with milk and honey.

2025 surveys from Gallup and the Federal Reserve Bank of Philadelphia report 43% of eligible Americans personally own stock, and 62% report they or their spouse owns stock.

In addition, Gallup’s Economy and Personal Finance Surveys have shown since 1998, the percentage of eligible Americans who invest in stocks. Ranging from peaks at 63% in 2004 and lows of 52% in 2013 and 2016, this data shows us that not everyone is investing in the stock market, and a large portion of our population at that.

Bankrate’s 2025 small business survey reports 27% of Americans have an active side hustle.

iPropertyManagement reported that based on all 2024 U.S. filings, less than 7% of Americans report rental income on their tax returns.

The U.S. Census Bureau reports less than 3% of Americans own their own LLCs.

This data shows us that we have recreated the first generation.

Our Father tells us in Ecclesiastes 11:2, “Give a portion to seven, or even to eight, for you know not what disaster may happen on earth.”

Depending on and relying on God is a trust fall. He will not leave you nor forsake you, but miracles require motion.

To not use everything God has blessed you with to glorify Him shows a lack of trust that He will catch you in the fall. We all make decisions and have to live by those decisions, but He will be there every step of the way.

So when it comes to diversifying your financial portion, don’t skip out on all the opportunities that lay in front of you. Do you want to spend more time with your family that God blessed you with? Then start working with them. Do you want to put your child in a better school but you don’t have the money? Then look at your life and identify the gaps where you can be spending just 30-mins to produce a new solution that helps others and watch God bless it.

Sometimes I think we look at diversification and focus too much on the output – spending more time thinking about what could be if we had this certain thing that would produce “X” for us; and what happens with this is that we spend all the time we should’ve been building, just thinking our opportunity away.

Saving all of those bright ideas God is blessing you with for the right moment is not only selfish, but as it pertains to our financial portions, it’s a form of hoarding.

Nobody knows before planting the seed exactly how the crop is going to turn out and taste. But you have to take the time to actually plant it to even be able to harvest it.

In the name of Jesus, I pray blessing and joy over your life. I pray guidance, wisdom, and understanding of His word for you and your family as you lead them in your time with Him in His word. And I pray for alignment in all your endeavors that are for glorifying Him.

Go and open the brokerage account. Buy a bond. Invest in a REIT. Collect some gig app income from places like Uber and Craigslist. Convert your understanding of your job as God providing for you and not your employer and balance it with everything else you want to do. All things were made to work remember? Our output should be never-ending like the products that come from a tree. And always feel free to reach out to me when you need a brother in Christ to be sharpened with.

May God Bless you and yours!
